(NMC) — Northern Marianas College nursing graduates Rose Ogo and MJ Masongsong have joined the list of students who passed the challenging National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses or NCLEX-RN.

“We are extremely proud of Rose and MJ’s accomplishments as well as the other nursing students who have been able to reach this important milestone of passing the NCLEX,” NMC Interim President Frankie Eliptico said.

The NCLEX-RN tests an individual's nursing knowledge, skills and abilities essential to the safe and effective practice of nursing at the entry level. The exam is used by nursing boards in all U.S. states and territories to award nursing licenses.

“Rose and MJ have a bright future in the nursing field and we expect to see great things from them as their educational and professional journeys continue,” said NMC Nursing Department Chair Rosa T. Aldan.

According to Ogo, she became a nurse so that she could follow in her mother’s footsteps. “I’ve always heard that the profession was hard work but very rewarding,” Ogo said. “I wanted to be like my mom and make a difference in people’s lives be it small or big.”

Masongsong said NMC helped her prepare for the NCLEX.

“I owe it to my nursing instructors for providing the foundation for my passage of the NCLEX,” Masongsong said. “They helped hone my clinical skills with hands-on activities such as return demonstrations which help with procedural content related to the NCLEX. This really helped me keep in the right mindset because there are times when I felt an overwhelming flood of emotions that I could not focus well.”
