(BECQ) — Due to excessive stormwater runoff and breaching of Garapan Drainages #1 and #2, the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality is issuing an advisory from the following locations due to the possibility of  excessive concentrations of fecal indicator bacteria enterococci that exceed CNMI marine water quality standards.

There is a general likelihood of higher levels of bacteria following any rainy period due to runoff from the land. 

In order to adequately address public health concerns, BECQ is issuing this preemptive advisory, for the following locations a red flag urging the public to exercise caution when swimming or fishing at all beach locations for the next 48 hours:

Drainage #2

Imperial Pacific

Garapan Fishing Dock
