(NMC) — Keithley Marquez, a 2020 NMC nursing graduate, has joined the list of students who have passed the challenging National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses or NCLEX-RN.

Nursing graduates in the CNMI have to pass the NCLEX-RN  in order to practice nursing. The exam tests the knowledge, skills, and abilities of nursing graduates in order to certify that they are equipped with the capability to apply entry level nursing practices correctly.

“I wish to congratulate Keithley on becoming the latest graduate to reach this important milestone of passing the NCLEX-RN,” Interim President Frankie Eliptico said.

Along with Marquez, recent NMC graduates Frantz David Clarke, Liqi Huang, and Haram Lee have also passed the NCLEX-RN this year.

“We commend Keithley for this accomplishment and expect to see great things from her as Keithley’s educational and professional journey continues,” said NMC Nursing Department Chair Rosa T. Aldan.

Marquez has always wanted to pursue a career in the medical field.

“Being able to give back to my community through my service makes nursing a very rewarding and humbling career,” Marquez said.

She added that NMC’s nursing program helped her in great detail when preparing for the exam.

“Even though my nursing cohort had to finish our last semester in our homes due to Covid-19, I’m truly grateful that our instructors continued to provide NCLEX content reviews via our Zoom sessions,” Marquez said. “Those Zoom sessions helped me evaluate my strengths and weaknesses and what content I should focus more on when reviewing for the NCLEX.”
