(Office of the Governor) — The governor’s Covid-19 Task Force has been aware of fake IRS calls being made to residents within the Marianas requesting for bank account information to deposit the stimulus check.

Residents should never give their bank account information to anyone over the phone. The IRS will never ask for your bank account information.

Official guidance regarding the stimulus checks from the CARES Act will be provided soon.

During crises like this, oftentimes the spread of misinformation is just as dangerous as the virus itself.

The CNMI is reminded to only share official and verified notices, press releases, and advisories from the governor’s Covid-19 Task Force and CHCC.
