MARIANAS High School’s Varsity team has done it again, this time by claiming the 2019-2020 Public School System Girls Basketball League title on Saturday after defeating its younger sister team, MHS Junior Varsity, 19-8, at the MHS gym.

MHS V’s players not only showed skill, but had fun with it. They started off strong with Jaime at the frontline firing the first two buckets. MHS JV tried to stay alive with pure hustle as Manet put up four points to even the score. However, the lead leaned back toward MHS V’s favor during the last few minutes of the first half as Desrei, Jerlyn and Sydney put in three consecutive shots for a 10-6 lead.

The second half was no different as MHS V continued to dominate the floor. Desrei and Jaime’s consistency kept the fire burning as they scored two points apiece with Katrina and Jerlyn stretching the gap further. MHS JV scored one more bucket courtesy of Jannah before they bowed down to MHS V, 19-8.

MHS JV reached the finals by beating Agape Christian School, Tinian High School and top contender Saipan Southern High School.
