KYUNGA Park topped the CNMI Women's Golf Association's October Ace of the Month Tournament on Sunday at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort.

It was a tough battle for all participants as they also had to deal with the rainy and windy weather.

Park had a rough start but managed to slowly adjust her swing midway and lower her count before committing two more bogeys to finish the front nine with a gross score of 46.

Things got tougher in the back nine as the wind and rain took over the course.

But Park remained focused and did well by keeping her score 1-over par through most of the holes. She ended with a gross of 44 for a total gross score of 90 which put her in the top five. With a handicap of 25, her net score was reduced to 75 which allowed her to slide into first place and claim the October Ace of the Month title.

Sae Hee Kim, the September Ace,  led the tournament on Sunday with a gross of 44 in the front nine and 48 in the back nine for a total score of 92. With a handicap of 21, she had the best net score: 71. But because she had already won an Ace tourney, the October Ace title went to the second placer, Park.

CNMI Women's Golf Association president Yuko Togawa, another Ace, had a strong performance as well, closing out the 18 holes with the lowest gross scores of 40 and 42 for a total of 82. With a handicap of 8, her net score was 74 which was good enough for third place.

Taking fourth place was yet another Ace, Mio Kim, whose gross score in the front nine was 41, but she struggled in the back nine, scoring 91. Fortunately, her handicap of 17 gave her a net score of 74.

Completing the top five  was Su Jeong Yi who played well but had a hard time battling the weather and the competition in the back nine. She finished the course with a gross total of 88. With a handicap of 11, her net score came down to 77 to put her in fifth place.

The next CNMI Women's Golf Association tournament will be held at the Kingfisher Golf Links on Saturday, Nov. 14, with show time at 11:30 a.m. and tee time at 12:30 p.m.
