(Press Release) — The Lady Aces returned triumphant from Guam on Dec. 2, 2019 after participating in the 2019 Thanksgiving Hoopfest hosted by the Tamuning Typhoon Basketball Club and sponsored by the Tamuning Mayor’s Office and Bank of Guam.

The team finished with a 4-1 record and defeated Guam’s number 1 girls high school basketball team, the St. Paul Warriors, 31-30. The Warriors were undefeated in this year’s Guam high school league and won their 3rd straight championship in the league that just ended last week. The Lady Aces also defeated the St. John Knights and the Okkodo Bulldogs. In their victories, defense was the key. The girls also learned that years of practice and chemistry are just as vital as skill work after their loss against the Tamuning Typhoon’s women’s team in their final game.

Coach John R. Santos was extremely proud of the girls and their performance as they’re Saipan’s first 18U girls club team to travel to Guam to participate in a tournament. He would like to express his sincerest appreciation to all the major sponsors of this trip especially Rep. Marco Peter, Senate Vice President Jude U. Hofschneider and the rest of the Tinian Legislative Delegation, Gov. Ralph Torres, Lt. Gov. Arnold Palacios, Rep. Joe Itibus, Rep. Sheila Babauta, Payless Truckload and Super Store, Oleai Beach Club, The Shack, XO Market, McDonalds, Lollipops, Travel Lines, and the numerous individuals who supported the team’s fundraising efforts and made the trip to Guam possible.
