GOLFERS have finally picked up their clubs again as the Amigos resumed their ace tournaments with Norman Dung Tenorio claiming the title for April.

Tenorio did not have a relaxing time on the green as he had Nate Camacho and Fred Salavaria lingering closely by throughout the two-day tournament. During the qualifying round on June 7, it was Camacho who led the pack as his precision swings ended the day with a gross of 80. With a handicap of 18, Camacho totaled a net of 62 to hold the lowest score of the day.

Trailing not too far behind was Tenorio who ended with a gross score of 70 and a handicap of 7 for a net of 63. Salavaria was at third with a gross of 77 and a 12 handicap for a net score of 65.

On day two of the tournament, June 14, Salavaria turned the tables as he took over the course with a gross of 80. Minus his handicap of 12, he held a net of 68 for a total net score of 133. Tenorio continued his steady performance, sinking holes for a gross of 77. With a handicap of 7, he ended with a net of 70 and a net total of 133. Camacho could not maintain the strong performance of day one, but still managed to stay close as he ended with a gross of 89 with a handicap of 18 for a net of 71. His net total was 133, which meant that there was a three-way tie.

The tournament winner was chosen by going back to the toughest hole, #17 (1 handicap), where Camacho scored a 2 over, Salavaria scored a 1 over and Tenorio scored a par.

As a result, Tenorio was named April Ace of the Month.  Salavaria was second while Camacho placed third.

Closest to the pin winners were Salavaria at hole #6, Tenorio at Holes #8 and #12, and Bill Quitano at Hole #15. Each player received $150 per hole.

The Ace of the Month tournament was held at the Kingfisher Golf Course, a major Amigos sponsor. The Amigos Golf Club would like to thank the Kingfisher Golf management for their continued support.

The Amigos suspended their tournaments for two months due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Although the players are happy to be back on the golf course, they continue to observe social distancing protocols and are hoping that the pandemic will come to an end soon.

The May Ace qualifier and Ace rounds are scheduled for June 21 and June 28.  The Amigos would also like to extend a Happy Father’s Day greeting to all the hardworking fathers out there.
