WITH the easing of the Covid-19 restrictions, Latte Built in Oleai reopened its doors Wednesday to the public with a new schedule and set of rules.

Latte Built is now open from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day until the curfew is further adjusted. The curfew is currently from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

“It's a bit nerve-wracking because there are still some small traces of the virus on island,” Latte Built owner Derek Cutting said in an interview with Variety. “Also, I'm aware that not everyone has their jobs back to normal yet. However, I have a responsibility to my employees to try to get them back on a regular income.”

With social distancing in mind, Cutting has implemented new gym rules. Members, for example, can work out for one hour at a time. They can download Latte Built's app, “Gymmaster Member Portal” and pre-schedule their preferred time block.

Cutting and his team will allow 10 slots per hour to ensure social distancing for everyone. Moreover, face masks must be worn at all times while inside the gym.

Cutting said they will have plenty of disinfecting supplies, such as hand sanitizer and disinfectant sprays, for members and staff to use. Temperature checks are also required before anyone can enter the facility.

“We are all concerned about the spread of the coronavirus,” Cutting said. “That's why we have developed so many precautionary measures. But I think if everyone does their part to keep not only themselves safe, but all those around them as well, our chances of spreading any possible traces of the virus will be minimized.”

As for Cutting's employees, nearly all of them will return to work. "Most the front desk staff will return to work,” he said. “Trainers and class coaches will also continue; however, some of the classes will not meet as often.”

The Latte Built live home workouts will remain available online for those who want to remain at their homes. “We just renewed our contract with [sponsors] Marpac and Michelob Ultra for another month so they will go for at least another month,” Cutting said.

For now, only the Oleai branch is open to the public. As for the Kagman branch, Cutting said he is working on getting it operational as soon as possible. “We are short staffed at the moment since we need to have employees manning the Oleai facility the entire opening hours for safety. But we will be working on getting Kagman open as soon as we can.”
