DUE to Covid-19, the Marianas Visitors Authority had to postpone this year’s Tagaman Triathlon, which was set for March 20, until further notice. So some athletes decided to hold a virtual event on Facebook.

“It was actually one of our participants’ idea, Claire Devey, to go virtual on Facebook so I would like to thank her for a successful event,” said Ricky Castro, Tagaman racing director. “We had several participants who joined the online event — including athletes from Japan and Korea,” he added.

Castro said participants were told via Facebook to run, swim, and bike — whichever they liked to do — wherever, at their pace and time. Participants then posted their time and photos.

“We encourage everyone to stay fit regardless of the situation we are in now,” he said. “Another way to fight the virus is to have a healthy and fit body.”
