NAPA dismantles Blue Haus; Pacific Hardware disconnects IT&E

NAPA Auto Parts overpowered Blue Haus, 81-69, in the One Pacific Promotional Basketball League at the Civic Center Basketball Court on Friday.

NAPA took apart Blue Haus defensively in first 10 minutes of play. NAPA’s trio — Devero, Fitial and Rafols — then combined for 12 of their team’s 21 as NAPA ended the first quarter ahead by two, 21-19.

In the second quarter, NAPA remained on top as the defensive twin towers, Fitial and Rafols, outclassed Blue Haus in the paint. Blue Haus’ Demapan scored seven easy buckets, but NAPA remained in the lead as the first half ended, 38-36.

In third quarter, NAPA’s quick guard, Devero, ignited with 10 points as his team-mates also helped expand their lead, 57-49.

Devero continued his onslaught in the fourth and final quarter as he torched his way to seal the deal for NAPA, 81-69. Ivan Devero was named the Referee’s Choice for his game high of 34 points.

Pacific Hardward vs IT&E

Pacific Hardware outlasted IT&E, 78-72, in toe-to-toe action on Friday.

From start to finish, Pacific Hardware played with intensity. In the first half, Pacific Hardware blew past IT&E, 43-35, as Pacific Hardware’s trio — Viray, Dedios, and Mintac — combined for 32 of their team’s total output.

In the second half, the trio continued to torch their way in the perimeter, scoring all their teams’ points as Pacific Hardware remained in the lead to end the third canto, 60-50.

In the fourth quarter, IT&E rallied and reduced the deficit. But Pacific Hardware still managed to slip past IT&E in the final seconds of the game to win, 78-72.

Marlon de Dios was named the Referee’s Choice for his overpowering strength in the paint that gave Pacific Hardware second-chance points.
