6JMs/Sea Bridges defeated Ming Yang,77-56, while Blue Haus outlasted Pacific Hardware, 80-76, in the season opener of the 2020 One Pacific Promotional Basketball League, Saturday, at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.

Against 6JMs/Sea Bridges, Henry broke the ice, scoring the first points of Ming Yang on a fastbreak play in the first few minutes of the opening quarter.

6JMs/Sea Bridges’ Pelisamen then proceeded to pick up every loose ball which he converted to quick baskets in transition, scoring a total of 10 points in the first quarter which ended with his team ahead, 23-10.

Led by Pelisamen again, 6JMS/Sea Bridges took off in the second quarter, leaving Ming Yang far behind, 41-15.

In the second half, Ming Yang’s player did everything they could to cut the deficit but 6JMS/Sea Bridges simply brought fire to the court to blow out Ming Yang in the third quarter, 61-36.

Besides scoring 24 points, Pelisamen’s defensive efforts and run and gun play overwhelmed Ming Yang which lost to 6JMS/Sea Bridges, 56-77.

Blue Haus slips past Pacific Hardware

Against Pacific Hardware, Blue Haus gained momentum with Gerald Flores controlling the boards and scoring the first few baskets for his team which led 24-17 at the end of the first quarter. Despite a rough first canto, Mintac led Pacific Hardware with 10 points.

In the second quarter, Blue Haus and Pacific Hardware played with intensity and each scored 13 points. Pangelinan led Blue Haus with his accurate shots from behind the arc while Pacific Hardware’s Manalo and Mintac combined for 8 points as the first half ended with Blue Haus ahead, 37-30.

Blue Haus’ Aranda opened the second half with determination, catching Pacific Hardware off-guard, and sinking three triples from way beyond the arc. Pacific Hardware had no answers to Aranda’s scoring prowess, and the third quarter ended with Blue Haus leading 57-49.

In the fourth and final quarter, the game was down to the wire, as both teams exchanged baskets. Pacific Hardware’s players did everything they could with Viray and Mintac leading the rally that eventually tied the game, 76-76. In the final minute, Pangelinan drilled a clutch pull up jumper to secure the lead for Blue Haus, 78-76. Pacific Hardware had an opportunity to send the game to overtime with Viray drawing the last play. However, Blue Haus’ tight defense forced Viray to lose the ball in the final seconds, allowing Blue Haus to bring home the bacon, 80-76.
