AT the very core and the simple explanation for ALL the unrest in America and throughout the world is the lack of RESPECT!

If there was genuine respect between ALL human beings there would be no inequality, no hate crimes, no police brutality and the list goes on. So, the real problem is we have toooo many people who just don’t have RESPECT for their fellow man so we have to make LAWs of ALL kinds to guarantee some form of respect through guaranteed RIGHTS even for criminals.

But being a Civil Rights Activist since the 1960s, it was truly and awesome reminder of the Civil Rights Movement that I actually see being revived in what has become the “Black Lives Matter Movement”.  But it tells me that We the People of the CNMI are not only going to revive our dead Democracy but we are also going to start putting an end to racism in the CNMI that has been incubated and given life by the Republicans in their desire for Social Dominance which they have even achieved to a large degree. The GOP have literally been turning locals against outsiders being equal ever since I can remember and I have been here over thirty years now so stay tuned for more on this story when the campaigning begins.

But the death of Mr. George Floyd has created a “MOVEMENT” that has gone far and beyond a protest.  WE are part of history that is now sweeping the entire World as mankind is about to take another tiny step forward to live in harmony with RESPECT for Everyone and their Rights. NO ONE should be expected to EARN Respect as to demand that one must EARN respect teeters on narcissistic behavior. One can only earn CONFIDENCE & SUPPORT as respect is really a “given in nature between humans” — only animals are disrespectful in nature.  But there are a lot of messed-up humans due to “free will thinking with the ability to choose our nature” so sometimes we just have to DEMAND Respect through turmoil and even wars just to achieve the “Human Expectation of Respect” that is synonymous with “Human Rights.” The protests are actually all about the simple thing of RESPECT for one another that is guided by ONE Golden Rule of “do unto others as you would have them do unto you” and you won’t go wrong — it’s really that simple if everyone would follow that one rule. Heck my ONLY rule as a teacher was “treat them like your own (with respect) and you can’t go wrong” so if we ALL become People of PRINCIPLES (respecting values, ethics & morals) it will end ALL of the bad behavior in the world that transpires between People with mutual RESPECT.

But it was truly something to see on Beach Road as there were people of ALL races and color like a “rainbow” protesting on Beach Road in solidarity to end racism. There is really no room for things like White Supremacy and Local Supremacy in a nation that was FOUNDED on EQUALITY which is why we continue to see protests until the ugly behavior of disrespecting people no longer exist.  To promote equality but condone disrespectful racism means we are living in a REAL Social Dichotomy (social contradiction) and it must stop as even the world has now seen ENOUGH!

The great thing about the CNMI is that RESPECT is actually woven into the cultural fabric, especially when it comes to the elders. I haven’t experienced any incidents of racism with our Peace Officers in my 30 plus years and in fact they have always been professional and well-mannered to me. However, there are no “Hate Crime Laws” on the books to my knowledge and it only takes ONE Bad Apple to ruin it for everyone so our leaders should be “PROACTIVE” and create that law now so we don’t have to do it under “duress” when something happens.  So, like the title of Aretha Franklin’s most famous song says, “R-E-S-P-E-C-T” and tell the world what it means to thee by PROTESTING to make our world a better place!

To be continued: One People One Direction for RESPECT in every shape form and fashion!
