THE Trump-Pence campaign and the Republican National Convention has named Gov. Ralph DLG Torres as campaign honorary state chair for the Commonwealth.

Donald J. Trump for President Inc. and the RNC made the announcement over the weekend, naming the eight members of the U.S. Island Territories Trump Victory effort who will work “to advance the agenda of President Trump and Republicans up and down the ballot.”

Torres will be honorary state chair for the CNMI; Congresswoman Jennifer Gonzales for Puerto Rico; Congresswoman Aumua Amata for American Samoa; former Gov. Eddie Calvo and former Gov. Felix Camacho for Guam; and Lt. Cmdr. Vince Danet and attorney Steve Hardy for the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In a statement, Governor Torres said: “I am honored by this announcement and the trust our President has in placing me in this esteemed position at this critical moment in our nation’s history. President Trump has been an incredible friend to the CNMI and working closely with his administration throughout the course of his first term has resulted in great progress for our people. I thank President Trump for being an advocate for our islands and for being an exemplary example of continuing to lead despite political tactics aiming to impede progress. I look forward to working with him in the years to come.”

For his part, Donald J. Trump for President Campaign Manager Brad Parscale stated, “President Trump has fought on behalf of all Americans since day one and the results of his common sense, pro-growth, pro-family policies can be seen across the nation and our territories.”

RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said: “Support of President Trump is growing daily, and this is a direct result of him delivering on his promises. Whether it’s delivering on a robust and expanding economy, lowering healthcare costs or rebuilding our military, he has delivered. We look forward to delivering yet another win in 2020.”
