THE requirements for the zoning administrator’s position should be amended, Zoning Board chairman Mariano Taitano said.

“I’ve had individuals calling me who have vast experience in government agencies who are interested in the position,” he said. However, those individuals do not have a bachelor’s degree as required by the job vacancy announcement or JVA for the zoning administrator.

Based on the JVA, applicants must preferably have at least a bachelor’s degree in planning or related field, and have five years of progressive experience in land-use planning and comprehensive planning.

Taitano said there may be interested individuals with 15 to 20 years of management experience, but do not have a bachelor’s degree.

“They are capable and can handle the position, but they cannot apply,” he added.

The board issued the JVA following the resignation of the former administrator, Therese Ogumoro in December. Zoning enforcement officer Yubert Alepuyo is the acting zoning administrator.
