A MAN previously convicted of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl was arrested for domestic violence on Tinian, Saturday.

Police said David Anthony Bamba, 61, slapped his girlfriend’s 13-year-old son in the face and pushed him down to the ground.

Bamba then shoved his girlfriend and slapped her twice in the face, police added.

An elderly household member who witnessed the incident told police that Bamba got mad when his girlfriend woke him up to “cook” for the children.

Police said Bamba is a tier III registered sex offender.

At the bail hearing on Monday, Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo imposed a $5,000 cash bail on Bamba who was represented by the Public Defender’s Office. Assistant Attorney General Erin Toolan appeared for the government.

Bamba was ordered to return to court on Jan. 13, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. for a preliminary hearing and on Feb. 10, at 9 a.m. for his arraignment.

Bamba, a resident of Tinian, was convicted of 13 counts of sexual abuse of a child on April 17, 1986 and was sentenced to 65 years imprisonment all suspended except for the first 22 years in jail.

He is serving the suspended portion of his sentence under supervised probation.
