THE New XO Market, which was issued a notice of closure on Sunday by the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.-Environmental Health Disease Prevention or EHDP, reopened on Tuesday.

The cashier declined to comment.

CHCC spokesman Lee Tenorio said EHDP noted violations of food safety standards when it inspected the store on Oct. 4.

The inspection team “deemed it necessary to temporarily suspend operations to allow ample time for management to rectify deficiencies identified,” Tenorio said. He did not elaborate.

EHDP would like to “emphasize the importance of controlling and preventing foodborne illness, which may result from improperly processed, handled or transported food.”

According to EHDP, “food service establishments must be concerned with the sound condition and safety of food as basic requirements for the protection of public health.”

At all times, including while being stored, prepared, displayed, served, or transported, “food shall be protected from potential contamination, including dust, insects, rodents, unclean equipment and utensils, unnecessary handling, coughs and sneezes, flooding, drainage, and overhead leakage or overhead drippage from condensation,” EHDP stated.
