THE Lady Diann Torres Foundation gave away a total of $1,000 cash prize to the four winners of this year’s Christmas Village competition.

With the theme “Upside Down Christmas,” Saipan Tribune bagged the first prize and won $400.

The $300 second prize went to Saipan Mayor’s Office for its Minecraft Lego House.

The North Pole of the Department of Corrections placed third while Santa’s Candy Land of the Department of Public Works won the People’s Choice award. Both departments received $150 each.

Compared to previous years, first lady Diann Torres said there were fewer participants in this year’s Christmas Village.

She said they had the most number of participants in 2017 — 29 government agencies and private companies.

This year, she added, there were 23 participants. “There are a lot of other things going on in the community and everybody is busy,” she said as she expressed appreciation to the participating government agencies and business establishments.
