EDUCATION Commissioner Dr. Alfred Ada said Roman Tudela, the human resources specialist of the Public School System for five years, is moving to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.

Ada said Tudela will play a “very important role” in his new responsibility, which involves a three-year federal grant to collect data on drugs, including opioids.

“President Trump wants to do something about the abuse of opioids in the states, and so they want to know if we have them here, too,” Ada said.

In a separate interview, Tudela said there was “nothing personal” about his decision to leave PSS.

“I just want to grab an opportunity that was presented to me to further build my skills in different settings,” he said.

Due to funding constraints, PSS will have a hard time hiring Tudela’s replacement, Ada said.

Recently, Ada and PSS human resources director Lucretia Borja presented a certificate of appreciation to Tudela for his outstanding service.
