EIGHTY families with the Public School System-Early Intervention Services Program on Friday will receive Christmas presents — plush toys — from the Lions Clubs of Region 2, District 204.

Region 2 comprises the Saipan Fil-Am Lions Club, the Saipan Marianas Lions Club, the Saipan Natibu Lions Club, the Saipan Alliance Lions Club, the Saipan Centennial Lions Club, and the Saipan Unity Lions Club.

“This is our way of making children smile during the holiday season,” Region 2 chair Annamae Adaza said, adding that the donations are part of the Lions’ annual activities.

She said 2019 marks the 22nd year of gift-giving to the children served by the Early Intervention Services program.

Program director Robin Palacios said they will distribute the gifts to the children on Saipan this month while they will deliver the plush toys for Rota and Tinian children next month.

“They are very dedicated to giving gifts from their hearts to all of the families served by the program,” Palacios said.

Board of Education member Andrew Orsini, for his part, thanked Palacios and other PSS officials for collaborating with the Lions Clubs.

As chairman of the BOE committee on instructional assessment services for students, the Early Intervention Program falls under his responsibility, Orsini said.

“It is important to build a solid foundation for the people in the community especially with the young children,” he added.
