THE Lions Clubs International District 204, Region 2 — comprising six clubs on Saipan — is one of the sponsors of the 42nd “Simbang Gabi” or Dawn Mass at Mount Carmel Cathedral.

The Dawn Masses start at 4 a.m. and are held daily from Dec. 16 through Dec. 24. They are organized each year by the Saipan Simbang Gabi Group.

Region 2 chair Annamae Adaza said the Lions sponsored the second Dawn Mass, which was celebrated by Father Neil Bullos, by raising funds for church activities and projects.

All Lions Clubs on island work together on certain projects as a regional organization, Adaza added.

In the previous year, the funds raised during the Dawn Masses were donated to schools in the Philippines and to those affected by Super Typhoon Yutu on Saipan.

“This year, the funds will be used to help rebuild the Mt. Carmel storage area and the earthquake victims in the Philippines,” she said.

The Lions Clubs International District 204, Region comprises the Saipan Fil-American Lions Club, the Saipan Unity Lions Club, the Saipan Marianas Lions Club, the Saipan Alliance Lions Club, the Saipan Natibu Lions Club, and the Saipan Centennial Lions Club.
