THE Commonwealth Utilities Corp. will send some of its technical staff members to conduct a physical assessment of the Tinian power plant, CUC Executive Director Gary Camacho said.

The assessment, he added, will  determine whether Telesource CNMI Inc., which operates the power plant, is complying with its new agreement with CUC.

"They seemed to be doing good,” he said, adding that Telesource reports to  the CUC resident director on Tinian.

CUC extended the contract of Telesource by two years after its 20-year agreement expired in May 2020.

Under the new contract, Telesource is required to improve the power plant facilities and infrastructure by overhauling its engines and implementing other enhancement programs.

Camacho said Telesource is required to submit a report to CUC each month.

"We are also monitoring them closely," he added as he expressed appreciation for Telesource submitting  progress reports timely.
