HAGÅTÑA (JIC) — The Joint Information Center was notified that the island’s 11th, 12th, and 13th Covid-19-related fatalities occurred Tuesday.

At approximately 12:04 a.m., a 73-year-old female with underlying health issues, passed away. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the Guam Memorial Hospital.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., the second patient, a 36-year-old female, passed away at GMH. She is the island’s second youngest Covid-related fatality.

Both patients were not known Covid-19 cases; however, both were swabbed at GMH and their results came back positive.

At approximately 9 a.m., a third patient, a 74-year-old male, passed away at Naval Hospital Guam.

“To the people of Guam, we have had too many days filled with grief and too many lives lost. Thirteen people have succumbed to this virus. Contrary to what some have said, not all of them were elderly — two of them were in their thirties, with their lives ahead of them,” said Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero. “I ask the island to keep their family and friends in your thoughts and prayers, to not only mourn their passing but to also remember them for the lives they lived.”

The three recent deaths will be counted in Guam’s overall Covid-19 case count, bringing the island’s total to 13 Covid-19-related fatalities.

Also on Tuesday, 52 tested positive for Covid-19. “To date,” JIC stated, “there have been a total of 1,447 confirmed cases of Covid-19 with 13 deaths, 568 not in isolation, and 866 cases in active isolation. Of those cases, 1,228 are classified as civilians and 219 are military service members.”
