SPECIAL assistant to the Saipan mayor Henry Hofschneider said the mayor's office will receive $232,706 from the $2.5 million assistance provided by the Trump administration to the CNMI through the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Office of Insular Affairs.

"We will maximize the fund's use to hire personnel and fund the operation cost of the office," Hofschneider said.

He added that personnel are needed to maintain the cleanliness and the public areas of the island.

He said the mayor's office is also hoping to receive additional federal assistance for its dog control program, the Sugar King park improvement project, and equipment acquisition.
