AS of July 30, 33,010 economic impact payments, or stimulus checks, had been sent out, Secretary of Finance David DLG Atalig said on Tuesday.

This amounts to $50,953,844.38 in stimulus funds.

He said 929 stimulus checks are still pending, and these amount to $1,504,521.14.

"We started the stimulus program with $47.1 million. We're now closer to $56 million," he added.

He also said, "We still continue to draw down and give out stimulus checks. Last week, we drew down [and] issued about $3 million in stimulus."

He pointed out that Finance has done the bulk of the work, but there are still a lot of taxpayers who are resolving their tax return issues.

"Once they resolve it [and] show that they qualify for it, then we will pay them," he added.

Regarding child tax credit, Atalig said, "We don't have a lot of good news as of right now. We are still anxiously waiting for the [Internal Revenue Service] to give us the A-OK.”

He said the Department of Finance submitted  a request for over $7 million in child tax credit, and is already preparing for the second batch.

As for refunds for CNMI taxpayers, Atalig said, "We are scheduling, or hoping that we can have everything ready to go in September. We're doing our best to be able to do that.”
