WHILE he is on leave to attend his jury trial on Saipan, Rota Mayor Efraim Atalig on Monday said the Rota municipal government continues to provide services to the public.

The mayor said he continues to coordinate with the other municipal officials on Rota to ensure that the delivery of services is not hampered.

Atalig has been charged in federal court over government-funded off-island travels.

Before his jury trial started, he named Rota Municipal Council Chairwoman Lucy Manglona as acting mayor for two weeks.

“I’m encouraging my constituents to cooperate with the acting mayor,” he said, “and do all the things that needed to be done.”

Atalig said he is hopeful he would be cleared of all charges.

“I assure the people on Rota that I have not done anything wrong,” he added.
