GOVERNOR Ralph DLG Torres has appointed House Floor Leader John Paul Sablan to the CNMI Youth Advisory Council.

Sablan, who will represent the Legislature on the council, said he will soon submit his résumé and financial statement to the Office of the Public Auditor. Those are among the requirements, he said.

The position was previously held by then-Rep. Angel A. Demapan.

In his letter to Sablan, Torres said the appointment to the council does not require confirmation by the Senate.

The governor also noted that the Youth Advisory Council “is one of our most significant councils representing our youth, and I hope that you will accept this appointment.”

The council functions as an advisory board to the Criminal Justice Planning Agency and its supervisory council on youth-related matters. Among other things, it reviews all sub-grant proposals for federal juvenile justice and delinquency funds.
