THE Marianas Visitors Authority management should consider installing showers on Saipan public beaches, MVA board member Chris Nelson said.

He said the project will not require a lot of funding and is “doable.”

“I just think the showers are a win for the locals and for tourists,” he said, adding that it is vital to have a freshwater source so people can clean up after swimming.

He noted some hotels located near beaches provide showers to their clients.

Nelson said MVA can partner with the Capital Improvement Projects Office, which has shown interest in the project.

MVA board member Jerry Tan, for his part, suggested repairing the restrooms and railings at tourist sites.

“This is the best time to repair and fix them up while there are no tourists yet,” he added.

MVA board chairwoman Marian Aldan-Pierce said tourist destinations are being adequately maintained, adding that the Department of Lands and Natural Resources-Division of Parks and Recreation has been assisting MVA in its cleanup campaign.

“The only problem in Marpi are the cows that keep coming out of their designated areas,” she added.

MVA Managing Director Priscilla Iakopo said MVA will assess all of the tourist destinations and their facilities and make repairs if needed.
