MARIANAS Visitors Authority Board Chairwoman Marian Aldan-Pierce said the Department of Public Lands should look into the ongoing problem with cow manure in Marpi, one of the main tourist destinations of the island.

“They [DPL] should write a letter to those people with grazing permits to make sure that their livestock are behind properly built fences,” she said.

Right now, “some cows are coming out of their designated areas and cow manure is all over Marpi — that’s the problem,” she added.

Cow manure also poses a danger to bikers, hikers and other individuals who go to Marpi to enjoy the quietness of the place, Aldan-Pierce, a biker herself, said.

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, she said MVA continues to maintain  tourist destinations.

She added that MVA has partnered with the Department of Lands and Natural Resources-Division of Parks and Recreation in maintaining tourist destinations, especially in Marpi.
