THE Commonwealth Utilities Corp. is reviewing 198 net metering applications for grid connection, CUC Executive Director Gary Camacho said.

In his report to the CUC board last week, he said the net metering accounts of the public utility total 457 residential, commercial, and government customers.

He said the power division expects the total number of CUC net metering customers to increase in the future.

The total grid connected system amounts to 4.3 megawatts on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, he added.

Since 2014, CUC has been offering a net metering program for its residential customers who want to install solar panels in their homes.

Residential customers will get paid for the excess power returned to the CUC grid.
