WHILE the Saipan mayor’s office is back to normal operation, members of the public are still encouraged to transact business online, special assistant to the mayor Henry Hofschneider said.

He said people can register online for municipal ID, dog license renewal, and marriage application.

Social distancing

Since the mayor’s office re-opened last week, Hofschneider said customers have been “very cooperative.”

However, he added, some have to line up outside the office because only a limited number of people are allowed in the lobby as required by the social distancing rules.

Mayor’s office marriage coordinator Bobby Yamada said the mayor has officiated five wedding ceremonies since their office reopened.

She said there are seven pending marriage applications and the ceremonies will be held this month.

“All of our clients are local,” Yamada said, adding that they are expecting off-island couples once the tourism industry reopens next month.
