ONE hundred forty Koreans left Saipan on May 27 on a chartered Jeju Air flight, Marianas Visitors Authority board chairwoman Marian Aldan-Pierce said.

Most of them are students who were stranded on island due to the coronavirus pandemic, which resulted in a global cancelation of flights, she added.

In February, over 100 Chinese tourists were stranded on Saipan after Hong Kong Express Airways, citing the Covid-19 outbreak, suspended its air service to the CNMI without prior notice.

They were eventually repatriated.
