THE proposed amendments to the Saipan Zoning Law of 2013 are vital to the operations and functionality of the zoning office, zoning administrator Geralyn Dela Cruz said.

The amendments include setback and structured parking requirements.

At present, Dela Cruz said, some rent-a-car businesses are using sidewalks as extended parking areas, which hinder the pedestrians’ right of way.

Dela Cruz is hopeful that the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation will approve the proposed amendments. (http://www.zoning.gov.mp/sec.asp?secID=37)

Dela Cruz said the proposed amendments are based on the recommendations and comments from the zoning board, the delegation, and from members of the public from the various villages.
