THE Saipan mayor’s office will soon resume the registration and renewal of dog licenses, special assistant to the mayor Henry Hofschneider said.

“We are working on it and probably we could start by next week,” he added.

On Monday, he said they officially resumed the issuance of municipal identification cards and marriage schedules.

However, all applications, processing of documents and submissions should be done online, he added.

Acting Mayor Debra Camacho said the first day of operation was “very smooth” and applications were sent through the website  www.saipanmayor.net or the Saipan mayor’s Facebook page.

The mayor’s office resumed issuing IDs because some community members do not have passports or driver’s license, which are required when transacting business, Camacho said.

Camacho said municipal IDs can be renewed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

All processing is done online, Camacho said, adding that once the application is processed, the mayor’s office will call up the applicant so he or she can pick up the ID card.

She said IDs will be handed to individuals outside the mayor’s office.

As for the marriage schedule, applicants can download the form and apply online, Camacho added.

During a wedding ceremony, only two witnesses, one marriage coordinator, the mayor or acting mayor and the couple will be allowed in the conference room, Hofschneider said.
