THE Saipan Zoning Office continues to implement the zoning law by conducting on-site inspections, acting zoning administrator and chief zoning enforcement officer Yubert Alepuyo said.

“We want to make sure that everyone is complying with our law despite the shutdown of some government offices and businesses on island,” he added in an interview.

He said zoning staff members are taking pictures, documenting violations, and leaving fliers to inform violators that they should contact the zoning office.

Alepuyo said there are some businesses and developers “taking advantage” of the Covid-19 crisis by pursuing their projects without complying with the rules and regulations.

This week, he said the zoning office will be open from 7:30 am to 11:30 am, Monday to Thursday only.

He said there are businesses that need to renew their licenses while other are applying for a zoning permit.

“It is important to continue our operation to help the central government generate revenue,” he added.

While on the field or at the office, Alepuyo said they observe precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of the staff, their customers and other community members. He said they avoid physical contact between employees and customers even during document exchanges.

All customers are advised to contact the zoning office at 234-9661/2/3 for instructions on how to submit documents for processing.
