THE people of Rota, including its business establishments, have been “very cooperative” and are complying with the directive on social-distancing and other health and safety measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, Rota Mayor Efraim Atalig said.

“I am happy that people are observing social distancing so we have no problem. I really appreciate the enforcement of the directive,” he said in an interview.
The Covid-19 Task Force has been active in enforcing directives and guidelines from the governor’s office to ensure the safety of the community, he added.
Ivan Mereb, Covid-19 Task Force local representative, said they are also closely monitoring newly arrived individuals, especially those from Covid-19-infected areas.
Crew members and passengers of arriving vessels are immediately checked, he said, adding that any person of interest will be transported to Saipan for quarantine.
Atalig said so far, no one from Rota has been transported to Saipan for quarantine.
