NAP Administrator Walter Macaranas said the care packages, which contain food and other essential commodities, are for Saipan households who receive the least amount of NAP benefits.
“Due to the uncertainty of how long this pandemic will be around us, this donation is an absolute help for our families who need help,” he added.
On behalf of DCCA-NAP, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios accepted the care packages from E-Land/Micronesia Resort Inc. chief executive officer Brian Shin on Thursday in the Coral Ocean Point parking lot.
Linsay Ahn, Micronesia Resort Inc. corporate social responsibility manager noted that so many individuals have been affected financially by the Covid-19 pandemic. “This donation is our way of saying that we are in this together — there is this feeling of warmth even though we are physically separated. Our hearts are connected and we care about the people of this community,” Ahn added.
She said the care packages are for the most vulnerable families in the community. “But since we don’t know how to get a hold of them, DCCA-NAP agreed to partner with us and they will be in charge of the distribution.”
According to E-Land/Micronesia Resort Inc. chief executive officer Brian Shin, “We understand how important it is to help each other especially during the most difficult times — we hope that as a community we can get over this [pandemic] together.”
