THE Public School System will distribute “enrichment learning packets” — printouts of lessons and worksheets — to its 10,500 student starting on April 13, said Dr. Yvonne Pangelinan, associate education commissioner for student support system.

“Let me clarify that it is not a distance education program. As much as we would like to utilize technology and distance education, we just don’t have the infrastructure right now and the system to be able to do that,” she said, adding not all students have access to technology.
Early Intervention Services program director Robin Palacios said a speech pathologist, a physical therapist and an occupational therapist will continue to provide special instruction and other services to children from birth to three years old. “We will provide services via teleconference,” she added. “Families have the option of a phone call or a video chat.”
The Early Head Start program will begin enrichment learning on April 13. As for students under the Individualized Family Service Plan, their learning enhancement will be done online which be launched very soon, Pangelinan said.
For the elementary schools, the enrichment learning packets will be distributed on April 13. “Support will be provided to students who will not get passing grades in the third quarter” which ended on March 12, Pangelinan said.
From April 16 to 24, PSS will begin distributing packets to middle school students while the packets for high school students will be made available from April 15 to 17.
This week, Pangelinan said she and school principals will discuss the distribution of the packets.
She added that the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. and the governor’s Covid-19 Task Force provided PSS with information on safety measures that should be observed during the distribution of the packets.
