FOR the fourth time this year, Mobil Oil Marianas and Shell Marianas have rolled back fuel prices, this time by 20 cents.

From $3.63 a gallon since the latest roll back last week, the regular gas price went down to $3.43 a gallon while the price of supreme went down from $4.08 a gallon to $3.88 a gallon. The price of diesel also went down from $4.01 a gallon to $3.91 a gallon.

After a series of hikes late last year, gas prices started declining in January. They first went down by 10 cents, then by another 10 cents early in March. Two days after Gov. Ralph DLG Torres declared a price freeze later in the month, gas prices went down by 30 cents.

An illegal taxi driver said he was very happy to see gas prices going down. Because of the continuous gas price hikes last year, he said he and other taxi drivers had to raise their fare as well. From $3, illegal taxi drivers are now asking a minimum fare of $4 from their passengers.

Business Insider and The Ledger have reported that gas prices in the U.S. are hitting an “unprecedented” low as Covid-19 “ravages” the economy amid an oversupply of oil on the world market stemming from a dispute between two of the largest global producers, Saudi Arabia and Russia.
