Club international service director Greg Borja said most members of the Interact Club are also members of the MHS Pre-Med Club.

Interact is Rotary's service club for young people ages 12 to 18.

Borja said the health career seminar falls under Rotary’s goals, which include maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, and economic development.

The Public School System can no longer sponsor the seminar following across-the-board budget cuts amid a deepening economic crisis caused by the global Covid-19 outbreak.

Borja said the MHS Pre-Med Club is now raising funds for the seminar, which, he added, will be attended by 70 students.

“These students are basically looking at getting careers in the healthcare field,” Borja said.

At present, he added, the students are “shadowing” dentists at the Seventh-day Adventist Clinic.

In addition, he said, the students collected and donated books to the pediatric unit at the Commonwealth Health Center.
