Kang and other Kang Dong doctors were on island Thursday to meet with local patients who were referred to the hospital.

During the meeting at the Hyatt Regency Saipan, the patients consulted with their doctors in South Korea via video calls.

In his remarks, Kang said they will continue to treat patients from the CNMI “with great medical skills so that they can do their best in their daily life.”

He touted Kang Dong Hospital’s world-class standards, adding that he is proud of its medical technology which, he added, is one of the best in the world.

He said the hospital performs, among other medical procedures, Unilateral Biportal Endoscopic or UBE spine surgery, which he described as “an effective way to perform operations of spinal disc ruptures and stenosis with minimal invasions.”

He said doctors from other countries are visiting Kang Dong Hospital to learn UBE surgery techniques.

“Our hospital has the most number of revision artificial joint surgeries performed in Korea,’” he added. “Artificial joint revision is an operation in which a new artificial joint is inserted…due to wear, damage, or dislocation of the joint.”

Kang thanked CNMI Medical Referral Services Director Ronald Sablan, House Floor Leader John Paul Sablan, and Rep. Jose Itibus for participating in the meeting on Thursday.
