OVER 50 Public School System students are now participating in the College Preparation Math Quantum program.

In an interview, Education Commissioner Dr. Alfred Ada said PSS and Northern Marianas College collaborated with the Regional Educational Laboratory to develop the program, which has been implemented in all public high schools.

“The idea is when a student joins [CPMQ] and passes it, he or she doesn’t need to take the math placement test at NMC,” he added.

He said CPMQ is a pathway to college for those who are planning to attend NMC.

Two years ago, REL program executive director Phillip Herman recommended a collaboration between PSS and NMC in designing a math course to help prepare high school seniors for college-level math.

Ada said REL is also helping PSS design a career-readiness program for students.
